Season 3 of The Fairy Tale Art Cart podcast is here! New folktales and draw along fun for screen-free kids!

I was signing my kids out of their afterschool program, and the director looked at me and said, “My second cup of coffee has officially worn off”. My eyes widened and I nodded with complete recognition of what he was talking about.

The 4pm crash is so, so real. And if your household is anything like mine… that’s exactly when I need to start shifting my brain to dinner and evening routine prep for three young kids… and all the things. It’s a time of day that on any given day can bring connection or chaos. Especially when my kids are asking me “What can I do now?” as me or my husband are chopping the zucchini that they may or may not eat.

When it’s times like this, screen time can definitely be an easy answer. As parents, we need breaks and we need pockets of time to just… get the veggies chopped without putting out 16 other fires. But giving the screen all the time doesn’t always feel great, either.

So…What if screen-time wasn’t the only answer? What if there was another option that was just as easy to set up as a screen, and that offered your kids about 30 minutes of engaged creativity so that you have that pocket of time to do what you need to do but you don’t have to hand over the ipad.
